As I sat down to write to you, thinking about what You needed to hear today, the first thing that came to my mind was, "Keep going!”, as well as E.B. White’s words, “Hang on to your hat. Hang on to your hope. And wind the clock, for tomorrow is another day.” After all, “things can look dark, then a break shows in the clouds, and all is changed, sometimes rather suddenly” and
so, dear one, we just need to carry on walking the path. I am here to cheer you on.Â
Â
Well, we made it to the end of February! It might have been a slow start of the year or a really fast-paced one like mine but here we are, on the cusp of spring. Flowers and colours are emerging, we made it out of winter (almost) and the season of new beginnings is about to start.Â
Â
What are you going to start anew? Your physical health, your creative life, your finances, your love life, your parenting, your business, your connection with nature or people?
Â
Lent is about to begin and it is, traditionally in Christian countries, a time of privation as a reminder of Jesus' 40 days spent fasting in the desert. Many deny themselves luxuries and treats food-wise or other. Some have a daily spiritual devotion and others reflect on forgiveness.
Â
Without any religious connotation, this time is a great opportunity to commit to something for 40 days starting March 2nd and ending April 14th, such as:
- simple living (maybe spending less, decluttering, consuming less media)
- food privationÂ
- daily devotion to spiritual practice, meditation or a meditative, creative activity
- implementing a habit and applying discipline
- reading, journalling, etc
- anything that is relevant to you right now.
Remember that the devil tempted Jesus a few times to lead him away from his path so distractions and lack of motivation might visit or should I say, are bound to visit. Be prepared for it and have an idea of the 'tiny minimum' that you can do on those days, just a ridiculously small thing you can do that will allow you to tick the box and send Satan packing.
Â
To help you, I have made a grid to track your daily commitment. Print it and use it! I made it more fun by having small and big boxes so you can put a sticker or a word on days when you are really happy with yourself. Tick them in any order you fancy. I made a green and a pink version. If you want to commit to two things, print both! I did. One is a commitment to eat simpler food. The second one is a commitment to do a short
HITT workout in the morning again. I actually started on Monday so I am going to tick those boxes. Although it was designed with the dates of Lent in mind, you can start now or in a week's time if you want. By Easter, we will see the results of our effort. Keep it fun!
Â
Good luck dear one!
