Happy 2023! I hope that whatever you need right now comes to you, whether it is health, love, success, connection, laughter, rest, peace, or joy. May this year be clement to you.
Whatever 2023 end up looking like, you can always make changes that will impact your life, enhance the quality of your life and help you navigate life's unpredictability.
Today, I invite you to think about the changes you want to see in your life by the end of 2023. I use the term
changes rather than goals because reaching goals is the result of doing things differently and consistently. By focusing on changes, we are making our aspirations concrete and obtainable.
What changes do you want to see? Consider all relevant areas of your
life: home, money, personal relationships, physical and mental wellbeing, creativity/hobby, spirituality, family, work, etc.
What do these changes look like in concrete terms?
What do you need to do to make them happen? Think of what you can do now.
What do you need to believe
to make it happen?
Keep this list of changes handy and the first tweaks you can make to work towards them. Update it as needed. See what works and what doesn't. Please, keep overwhelm at bay by keeping it as simple as you can and introducing changes over time.
Examples of steps towards changes could be: getting off the bus one or two stops before your destination, swapping dairy for almond milk, taking five minutes in the morning to write a gratitude list, checking your bank account every day or once a week, setting up a direct debit towards a savings account (starting with a tiny amount), bring
your own lunch to work, journal at lunchtime, go to bed half-an-hour earlier, etc.
This is not about setting goals as much as deciding what we can do to serve ourselves best. It’s not about others, it’s about us and what we need to live well.
Yet, mini goals and big
goals have their place too; they give you a clear direction, like setting the GPS before going on a long journey. You wouldn’t just sit in the car and set off without knowing where you were going.
You could make it visual by creating a dream board that features the elements of your vision, of the changes you want to make. It could be fun to
do at the very least!
